Title: Criminal Justice Community Corrections Specialist (male)
*This is an entry level Criminal Justice position*
*No previous experience required!*
Pay: $18.54 - $21.32/hr (depending on shift differential)
Location: Lakewood, CO
Hours: Day shift, must be able to work weekends
OVERVIEW
Guides clients toward pro-social behavior and protects the safety of the staff, clients and community at large through monitoring and enforcing policies, rules and regulations with residential, nonresidential and out client services clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support, promote and adhere to the mission, values and Code of Conduct of Intervention Inc.

- Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
- Carry out all duties/responsibilities in accordance with Company values, policies and procedures, applicable laws and contractual obligations.
- Educate new clients on facility policies, rules and regulations and complete program orientation.
- In accordance with Intervention policy, procedures and values ensure clients are adhering to facility rules and regulations.
- Support, educate and train clients and staff on appropriate safety and security procedures.
- Communicate incidents, issues and other relevant information accurately and timely to appropriate staff through recording entries into computer system, department/facility log and/or personally as appropriate.
- Review department/facility log and other communication systems at least once daily to keep informed of issues.
- Conduct internal and external rounds throughout the facility to ensure safety and monitor compliance with policies.
- Monitor facility and client population for improper conduct or unauthorized persons inside facility, investigate and take appropriate action.
- Report client violations timely and appropriately. Investigate violations as directed.
- Support and enforce behavioral guidelines/sanctions for acceptable and unacceptable behaviors.
- Provide customer service to all visitors and assist them to authorized areas.
- Respond to emergencies as appropriate.
- Report any decisions or problems that occur to the Supervisor on duty.
- Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with clients and outside referral sources.
- Prepare disciplinary and incident reports accurately, legibly and completely and according to standards prior to the end of shift.
- Monitor clients movement in and out of the facility, ensure they all sign in/sign out appropriately.
- Conduct phone and on-site monitoring of clients at work and in the community per policy and procedure.
- Document client room/bed assignment changes.
- Monitor testing of clients through urinalysis and breathalyzer.
- Perform pat searches, facility inspections and room searches to inspect for contraband and ensure clients are adhering to policies.
- Conduct required headcounts and facility checks per shift, visually verifying and documenting location of all clients.
- Monitor client medication by documenting medications, and storing and disbursing according to prescribed dosage and time frame.
- Contact and properly file escape reports with appropriate authorities.
- Collect and secure property of escapees/terminated clients.
- Complete and fax DOC counts daily as required.
- Accept deposits, issue receipts to clients and secure payment in security office safe.
- Transport clients in company van.
- Supervise clients’ visitors; sign visitors in and out through the security office.
- Coordinate meals through sign-up process and monitor dining hall during mealtimes.
- Retrieve and release property to authorized pick-up person.
- Assign, monitor and record chores as required.
- Complete all paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Attend staff meeting monthly, CCS staff meetings and other required meetings as scheduled.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Attend required trainings and apply skills and knowledge.
- Regular and predictable attendance, flexibility in schedule/shift changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years customer service and/or security experience.
- Because this position requires direct observation of males submitting specimens for urinalysis, being male has been determined to be a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification and only males will be considered for the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Computer skills – Basic ability to enter data, generate reports and create communications from variety of software programs and databases.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to remain calm and deescalate stressful or crisis situations.
- Knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
- Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Company staff, stakeholders, and with diverse client base.
- Must pass background check and have ability to access state criminal databases.
- Ability to walk about a multi-floor building quickly and frequently.
- Ability to lift and move furnishings while conducting searches.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.
